About the Role
Incumbent serves as an Aviation Safety Inspector in support of the Principal Inspector and performs certificate management and continued operational safety duties at aerospace organizations.
What You'll Do
- →The inspector performs complex assignments.
- →Serves as an individual contributor, team member, or as a project/team leader for routine work activities.
- →Applies advanced technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, special manufacturing processes, and techniques used in the manufacture of aircraft, aircraft engines, propellers, and products.
- →Also, applies knowledge of the Federal Aviation Administration's regulatory requirements relative to type, production, and airworthiness certification.
- →The ASI determines conformity of prototype products utilizing the manufacturer's quality procedures, experience, inspection personnel, equipment and facilities.
- →In addition, the ASI evaluates the adequacy of processes and procedures to determine if the aeronautical product/article is reproducible after certification.
- →The ASI is involved in the planning and implementation of a full range of Type, Production, and Airworthiness Certification programs at aerospace organizations within Certificate Management Sections geographic area of responsibility.
- →ASI verifies assigned aerospace organizations comply with Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (14CFR) with respect to production, original airworthiness, and certification programs.
- →Determines certificate management actions for audit of assigned aerospace organizations.
- →Establishes certificate management actions in terms of kind and areas of audit, location, and frequency that will be most productive to assure adherence to the aerospace organization's quality system.
- →Assures on a continuing basis that the quality systems, organization, production facilities, and aeronautical products of assigned aerospace organizations are in compliance with FAA approvals and Title 14 CFRs.
- →Conducts audits in accordance with FAA Orders 8120.22 Production Approval Procedures, 8120.23 Certificate Management of Production Approval Holders, and other established policies.
- →Serves as a manufacturing subject matter expert in the investigation of violations, accidents, incidents and malfunction/defects that may be attributable to items manufactured by assigned organizations.
- →The ASI coaches/mentors and reviews the work of lower grade inspectors, and performs other duties as assigned.
