About the Position: This is a Animal Health Technician (Equine) position with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 1st Battalion, 3d United States Infantry Regiment, located at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. **Licensed Veterinary Technician, Certified Veterinary Technician, Registered Veterinary Technician or Equivalent Licensure is preferred.**
What You'll Do
- →Perform and record monthly stable inspections; estimate weights of working equines and administer preventive medical products, to include vaccinations and other supplements.
- →Coordinate with and aid Animal Care Specialists with monthly and quarterly veterinary specific training.
- →Analyze and evaluate environmental sanitation programs for the herd, quarantines when necessary, conditions, isolates, vaccinates and assists in implementing preventive medicine procedures.
- →Assist veterinarian with examinations, emergencies, and routine procedures.
- →Perform and assist various patient exams for working equines to include, but not limited to, joint injections, lameness exams, pre-purchase examinations, diagnostic imaging, colic workups, laceration and wound repairs, etc.
- →Administer preanesthetic and Intravenous (IV) anesthetic induction agents as directed by veterinarian.
