About the Role

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This position is for an Aircraft Mechanic, Position Description Number D0483000 located in the Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF #1), Winder, GA. This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Open to current on-board members of the Georgia Army National Guard.

What You'll Do

  • As an Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10, you will: Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, post flight, calendar, thru-flight, and special inspections such as fuel contamination, emergency equipment, and oil sampling.
  • Inspect and perform functional checks such as landing gear retraction and operation checks on hydraulic, electrical, pressurization, lubrication, de-icing, vacuum, induction, and exhaust systems.
  • Troubleshoot and perform unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft, utilizing various gauges, meters, measuring devices and other related test equipment.
  • Remove and replace aircraft components such as control surfaces, engines, constant speed drive, engine mounted gear boxes, wing fuel tanks or cells, landing gear mechanisms, wheels, brakes and tires.
  • Service oil, fluid, fuel, hydraulic, and oxygen systems.
  • Adjust and maintain installed equipment such as tow targets, hydraulic reels, and drive assemblies.
  • Perform user and organizational level maintenance on assigned support equipment, including inspection, repair, modification, and corrosion prevention.
  • Instruct, direct, and assign maintenance repair tasks to drill status guard members.
  • Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations.
  • Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations such as MEI, ORI, IG and UE inspections, mobility and command support exercises.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
