About the Role

This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1063000 and is part of the Army Aviation Support Facility located in West Jordan, with the Utah Army National Guard. The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is Mason Hornsby. IAW UTNGR 690-12 dated AUG 2022, Priority will be given to all current, onboard employees of the UTARNG. SHIFT REQUIREMENT: Night Shift

What You'll Do

  • Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-8852-11/12, you will: Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft.
  • Performs work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations.
  • Works with, coordinates and oversees the work of lower graded aircraft mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft.
  • Observes and inspects performance of other workers work to insure compliance with applicable technical publications, directives and local policy.
  • Oversees ground movement of aircraft.
  • Incumbent launches, recovers, parks and services aircraft.
  • Makes diagnoses and solves malfunctions of aircraft systems and components by utilizing a wide variety of complex, state of the art computerized and/or non-computerized Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE); by studying layout drawings, blueprints and wiring diagrams; and analyzing specifications and operating characteristics of aircraft and their components.
  • Ensures Unit Level Logistics-Aviation (ULLS-A) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance to flight crews regarding observed discrepancies, experienced in-flight characteristics and system malfunctions.
  • Clears Red X status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others.
  • Performs in-process and final inspection of others' work on assigned aircraft and components and certifies by signature adherence to work procedures and quality standards established by applicable publications.
  • Plans, develops and conducts proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel.
  • Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and support exercises.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.

  • Military Rank: Enlisted Compatible Military Assignments: CMF 15 Series For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

  • Soldiers who accept a technician position may be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP).
  • National Guard Membership is required.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Pending analysis, you may be required to complete a new 1-year probationary period when moved to this position IAW CNGBI 1400.25.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
