About the Role

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for an Aircraft Mechanic, Position Description Number D1063000 and is part of the Georgia Army National Guard, Army Aviation Support Facility #2, Dobbins AFB, Georgia. This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Current members of the Georgia Army National Guard.

What You'll Do

  • As an Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-12, you will: Manage, monitor or perform overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft.
  • Perform work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations.
  • Work with, coordinate and oversee the work of lower graded aircraft mechanics and certify the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft.
  • Perform damage assessments and repairs.
  • Participate in mission preparation and recovery operations.
  • Oversee installation of equipment for special missions.
  • Expedite aircraft operations to include concurrent servicing, refueling, and/or reconfiguration of equipment for changes in operational missions.
  • Perform preflight, thru flight, and post-flight inspections and scheduled or unscheduled maintenance.
  • Serve as the technical authority to identify and advise on requirements for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs on assigned aircraft.
  • Work closely with maintenance supervisor(s) and production control personnel to report and maintain current aircraft status.
  • Request maintenance services exceeding AASF capabilities or time constraints.
  • Control and perform work assignments based upon priorities, workload, availability of parts, facilities, material and personnel.
  • Coordinate with maintenance supervisor(s) and production control on maintenance requirements to aircraft that require adjustment to changes in operational requirements.
  • Observe and inspect performance of other workers work to insure compliance with applicable technical publications, directives and local policy.
