About the Role

THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF), Windsor Locks, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel, assigned to the AASF of the Connecticut Army National Guard.

What You'll Do

  • Position to be filled upon the vacancy of the incumbent.
  • JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated nonsupervisory work.
  • The occupation and nonsupervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-11.
  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
  • This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard.
  • The major duties include, but are not limited to: Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations.
  • Assigns tasks to be performed.
  • Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies.
  • Performs the nonsupervisory work of the function as needed.
  • Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands and in temperature and humidity extremes.
  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion.
  • Lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts weights up to 80 pounds such as generators, engine starters, and ejection seats with the assistance of weight handing equipment or other workers.
