About the Role
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. What You'll Do
- →DUTIES: DUTY 1: Performs inspection and troubleshooting on a variety of aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components in accordance with applicable technical orders/commercial manuals (C40 only) and specifications.
- →Properly determines discrepancies and extent of adjustments and/or repairs required on aircraft systems such as airframe, landing gear, power plant, gear boxes, pumps, hydraulic, pressurization, utility, fuel, oil, pneumatic, and flight control systems.
- →DUTY 2: Positions, maintains, disassembles, repairs, and reassembles aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components in accordance with applicable technical orders and specifications.
- →Efficiently completes major overhaul, routine maintenance, positioning, configuration management, and servicing/ground handling of aircraft.
- →DUTY 3: Accomplishes aircraft maintenance and equipment record keeping, both manual and automated, associated with aircraft maintenance and repair.
- →Checks aircraft forms for discrepancies during each work shift, clears discrepancies within capabilities and accurately annotates forms and/or automated records as to work performed.
- →DUTY 4: Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.
- →Strictly adheres to safety and security procedures and regulations and promptly reports any observed or identified violations in accordance with established guidelines.
- →DUTY 5: Verifies and certifies work processes and procedures and adequacy of work accomplished by certified co-workers and trainees.
- →May provide on-the-job training (OJT) to aircraft workers with less training and others in related trades on aircraft maintenance practices, technical aspects of new/modified systems and components, and safety procedures.
