The AST, Experimental Facility Development Engineer serves as a technical expert in the Electrical/Mechanical Systems Branch in the Spaceport Integration Directorate and leads oversight of systems maintenance and engineering of KSC assigned facility systems. Provides guidance to troubleshoot issues, ensure preventative maintenance is completed, plans for system upgrades, and provides technical review of design and construction to repair, modify, or upgrade of facility systems.
What You'll Do
- →Serve as Senior System Maintenance engineer for assigned KSC Institutional Facilities, Systems, Equipment, and Utilities (FSEU) which includes: Power, Grounding, Controls, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and Potable/Waste water.
- →Lead operations, maintenance, and sustaining engineering for this FSEU.
- →Interpret technical requirements and contract scope.
- →Provide technical guidance to contractors regarding procedures, equipment, systems, and work required.
- →Provide proactive, effective Government stewardship and technical oversight of KSC Institutional systems.
- →Participate in documentation and design reviews for assigned facility/systems.
- →Mentor junior engineers on how to ensure proper system maintenance is being performed including guidance for how to assess and approve/disapprove Contractor's preventive maintenance deferrals and other documentation as required.
- →Lead, assess, and provide technical expertise for facility/system problem resolution.
- →Maintain a thorough understanding of facility/system configurations and operational status/readiness.
- →Take necessary actions to maximize overall system availability and ensure readiness for operations.
- →Provide technical oversight, surveillance, and management of contracts.
- →Ensure contractors comply with defined statements of work and specifications, and document contractor performance.
Requirements
- ✓If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
- ✓Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
