The Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist performs complex imaging procedures in multiple modalities, based on the needs of the department, such as general radiography, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), Ultrasound or Mammography. The incumbent ensures patient safety, applies radiation protection standards, and uses advanced imaging software to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
What You'll Do
- →General Radiology - Perform diagnostic exams (X-ray, fluoroscopy, bone density, portable imaging). - Operate ionizing equipment; adjust technical factors for optimal image quality. - Transfer images to PACS for interpretation; maintain productivity standards.
- →Contrast Administration & Patient Monitoring (CT/MRI) - Prepare/administer contrast per signed orders; verify indications and screen for contraindications. - Insert/manage IV access; use injectors safely. - Monitor patient status; respond to adverse events promptly.
- →Mammography - Receives patient, explains the exam, positions the patient and adjusts the equipment making all necessary mammographic exposures.
- →Ensure that mammographic examinations are done ONLY if the entire QA checklist is done and there are NO areas out of compliance. - Checks patient's record in CPRS prior to procedures, annotates record as needed, and scans patient consent forms into the patient's record if electronic consent is not available.
- →In addition, completes patient incident forms in the JSPR system, and assists with clerical duties as needed. - Performs other duties as assigned.
- →Administrative Support - Schedule/cancel patient appointments in VHA systems as needed. - Support workflow efficiency and communication with clinical teams.
- →Work Schedule: 0730-1600 M-F Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
- →Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
- →Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
- →Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
- →Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
