About the Role
This Accountant position is located at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw Michigan. The accountant is responsible for the detailed and efficient operation and control of day-to-day fiscal activities at this facility. The incumbent must be experienced in applying professional accounting concepts and methodologies as well as knowledgeable in functional program characteristics and requirements.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Providing systems analysis, advice, and design regarding Financial Management and Accounting Systems used by the VA.
- →Reconciling financial reports, taking corrective action on financial system issues or reporting errors, provide training to VA field station staff, and participating in the financial system annual close out.
- →Performs analytical, evaluative and interpretive duties on any accounting matter related to the above functions.
- →Provides technical expertise to accounting staff, as well as an adviser to higher management throughout the facility on service line activities.
- →Review existing systems and workflow procedures to identify discrepancies from system use and review opportunities to validate and improve systems and recommend solutions to national system developers.
- →Other duties as assigned.
- →Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
