About the Role
About the Position: Serves as a senior staff Accountant and assistant to the Accounting Officer. Incumbent individually or as a member of the Finance and Accounting team ensures the quality and integrity of the district's financial management program.
What You'll Do
- →As an accounting advisor, promotes understanding and effective application of accounting and related financial management policies, procedures and systems promulgated by higher echelons.
- →Devises implementing policies to effect the various aspects of financial management; interprets the accounting policy implications of immediate and long range activities.
- →Responsible for assuring conformity to regulatory guidance for the Civil, Military, and/or Revolving Fund accounting programs and the systems accounting function.
- →Reviews, evaluates, and recommends improvements for the District accounting procedures, reports, and operational areas.
- →Acts as a liaison with the USACE National Finance Center and the Department of Defense Finance and Accounting Service to resolve all District queries and establish and maintain sound accounting practices.
- →Ensures that the Chief Financial Officers Act, and Army's Financial Management Plan is implemented to assure operational control is maintained.
- →Reviews new guidance, regulation and policy changes; evaluates and reports on the impact to District operations; develops local implementing guidance.
- →Monitors and reports USACE and Division financial management performance indicators to aid the technical staff in carrying out their responsibilities to effectively use governmental resources in the performance of their mission.
