About the Role
This position is located in a USDA Forest Service Unit. The primary purpose of the position is fire prevention and wildland fire management. This position is responsible for development, implementation and administration of the unit's Fire Prevention Program and also functions in initial attack fire suppression See ADDITIONAL INFORMATION for Regional contacts.
What You'll Do
- →Duties listed are at full performance grade GW-07 level.
- →Serves as an incident commander on fires with low incident complexity.
- →Develops and implements tactics based on incident objectives, fire behavior, weather forecast, and risk assessment.
- →Participates in prescribed burns to reduce hazardous fuels and/or to support the health of the forest ecosystem.
- →Maintains records and reports including individual fire reports, fire resource orders, and incident action records.
- →Gathers fire prevention data and provide input on risks, hazards, and other factors utilized in developing/updating the unit’s wildfire prevention analysis plans and hazardous fuel treatment plans.
- →Plans, organizes, schedules, and directs group prevention/education activities with external entities to meet program goals.
