The incumbent serves as Voluntary Services Officer (Assistant Chief) with the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE)/Voluntary Service in VA Northern California Health Care System. The CDCE incorporates Voluntary Service, Philanthropic Engagement, and Partnership Solutions; responsible for the management and execution of a diverse portfolio of enterprise-wide programs, activities and services in support of VA's overarching goals and priorities utilizing community resources.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties include but are not limited to the following: Plans and leads philanthropic activities and programs within widely dispersed locations across the healthcare system, VA Administrations and State Veterans Homes.
- →Assists in all aspects of the development, coordination, and management of the CDCE/Voluntary Service Office to include, but not limited to, planning, establishing and implementing policy; developing short and long-range program goals and objectives; and managing, evaluating, and coordinating (internal and external) resources of across the service.
- →Act in place of the Chief, CDCE/Voluntary Service when needed to collaborate with Department-level organizations to support national initiatives that involve community partnerships designed for execution at local facilities or in support of large-scale national programs, providing evaluation and recommendations to further program impact and long-term success.
- →Plans and executes a variety of complex internal and external special events, including VISN-wide and national events where the local facility is a key host or sponsor, or responsible for securing major monetary or in-kind donations and volunteer support.
- →Ensures the compliance with such for employees assigned by the Chief, CDCE/Voluntary Service for oversight of individual volunteers.
- →Oversees the implementation of the strategic and operational plans developed by the Chief, CDCE/Voluntary Service.
- →The incumbent leads and analyzes consultations with services across the healthcare system, agency representatives (including VHA, VBA, and NCA), and community officials to publicize, analyze, and recommend improvements for programs.
- →Under the direction of the Chief, CDCE/Voluntary Service, the incumbent is responsible for fiscal management and accountability, including assisting in the preparation and ongoing monitoring of an annual operating budget.
- →Work Schedule: Full-time; Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Telework: This position may be authorized for Ad-Hoc telework.
