About the Role

This VISN Chief Quality Management Officer (QMO) RN position is in VISN Director office at VISN 1, located at the Bedford VA Medical Center location. This position is a full-time at 40 hours per week.

What You'll Do

  • The Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) Chief Quality Management Officer (QMO) is an advanced healthcare executive who executes responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and innovative approaches in the guidance and direction of a variety of complex administrative and clinical services.
  • They function as an executive leader, administrator, and consultant with a wide range of experience and authority that is broad enough to improve care for Veterans through their influence in strategic planning, organizational assessment, quality and patient safety program development and evaluation, policy development, and execution.
  • The VISN QMO is a member of the VISN's Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and a crucial member of the VISN Clinical Triad with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • The QMO has the authority and responsibility for establishing quality and patient safety standards and ensuring these standards are met or exceeded and addressing expeditiously when they are not.
  • The QMO is the executive leader for regional healthcare markets in the continuous and timely availability of safe, quality care Veteran services throughout the network.
  • They are the principal executive for oversight of Quality and Patient Safety throughout the VISN and is the catalyst for the integration and collaboration of market quality/safety with other professional disciplines and functional areas in the mutual achievement of patient centered and enterprise goals.
  • They are the executive leader responsible for ensuring a High Reliability Organization (HRO) of safety founded on a proactive systems oriented approach to developing health care solutions with collective mindfulness.
  • Programmatic oversight for quality management and patient safety services and may include other programs based on the regional market organizational structure, such as Performance Improvement, Performance Measurement, Patient Safety, Accreditation, Risk Management, Internal and External Reviews, Utilization Management, Informatics, High Reliability, and Data Management.
  • The QMO provides clinical and administrative leadership and expertise to committee, task force, and project assignments at the VISN and National level.
  • The incumbent makes recommendations that may have a direct and substantial effect on network and healthcare facility operations.
  • They are expected to assist and work with all facility Health Systems Center executive leaders and Chief/Director of Quality and Patient Safety throughout the network to provide guidance and direction.
  • They actively participate at the senior executive management level within the VISN in overall planning and VISN management activities.

  • Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action).

Requirements

  • Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Selectee must have a valid unrestricted driving license.
  • Selectee must have a safe driving record.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • You may be required to serve a probationary period.
