This position is located at the Gallup Indian Medical Center, Division of Financial Management Branch; Gallup, New Mexico. The purpose of this position is to develop, maintain and provide Gallup Service Unit guidance on complex travel regulations to civil service and commissioned personnel which adhere to separate travel regulations. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
What You'll Do
- →Applies Federal Travel Regulations (FTR), Joint Federal Travel Regulations (JFTR), DHHS and IHS travel policies, travel card regulations, appropriations law, accounting principles, and budgetary practices to ensure compliant and accurate travel and financial transactions.
- →Administers federal travel, training, Permanent Change of Station (PCS), First Duty Station, Commissioned Officer travel, household goods shipments, and relocation entitlements in accordance with applicable regulations and policies.
- →Reviews, audits, and reconciles travel authorizations, vouchers, expenditures, obligations, undelivered orders, payment discrepancies, accounting codes, and commitment registers using automated financial and travel management systems.
- →Analyzes travel and financial data, identifies compliance and operational issues, researches discrepancies, develops solutions, and provides recommendations to improve program efficiency, accountability, and effectiveness.
- →Interprets and communicates federal travel policies and procedures; provides guidance to employees, supervisors, management, and leadership; prepares reports and recommendations; and trains travel preparers and staff on travel systems, regulations, and administrative procedures.
Requirements

- ✓Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment.

- ✓Upon receipt of instructions, applicants must complete all required background investigation forms within five (5) calendar days of issuance.
- ✓Timely completion is critical to avoid delays in processing or a determination of unsuitability.

- ✓Financial Suitability Requirement: This position requires a review of the applicant's financial history as part of the personnel security and suitability determination.
