The primary purpose of the position is for managing the Volunteer Transportation Network (VTN). VTN consists of approximately 70 Regularly Scheduled (RS) volunteer drivers and a motor pool of 13 VA owned donated vehicles. The incumbent is responsible for assuring the transportation needs of patients are met by scheduling rides for patients, recruiting volunteer drivers, scheduling and dispatching vehicles and driver, and coordinating with clinical and administrative staff.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties include, but are not limited to: Creates location scheduling matrices for a variety of Veteran patients in all of northern Nevada as well as northern California areas of Susanville, Quincy and Alturas.
- →Establish and plan work priorities and deadlines relying on traditional schedules and methods and creating new schedules and methods when necessary to achieve applicable goals.
- →Schedules transportation appointments for patients and provides information regarding transportation policies, procedures and locations to patients, family members, staff, etc.
- →Researches problems and/or reviews issues and requests related to transportation, clarifies issues and evaluates the need for additional information.
- →Assigns vehicles to drivers, monitors the actual release and return of vehicles to ascertain the current location and user of each vehicle by establishing and/or maintaining a standard system of recording the release of the vehicle to and the return of the vehicle from the user.
- →Manages the Transportation Program and services provided at the VASNHCS by planning, developing, evaluating, marketing and directing administrative activities in multiple programs related to the transportation systems for rural/remote beneficiaries not eligible for travel.
- →Acts as the advisor to VASNHCS leadership and managers regarding VHA directives, policies, VASNHCS policies and Standard Operating Procedures concerning transportation matters to assess efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- →Reviews vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules to determine that necessary repairs are being performed to keep them safe and serviceable, reviews records of repairs and utilization to assure that repairs and usage are within established criteria.
- →Interviews, schedules, places, and evaluates new volunteers.
- →Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00 Am to 3:30 PM Telework: Telework if approved, would be on an AD-HOC basis.
