This position is in the Health Administrative Service, Travel Unit at the New York Harbor Veterans Healthcare System in Brooklyn, NY.
What You'll Do
- →***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties: Verifies the scheduling of cars, vans, ambulances, medical flights, commercial flights and other contract transportation for patients.
- →Interprets and applies regulations and procedures to determine legal eligibility for transportation/travel services.
- →Verifies with each patient their address, time of pick-up based on appointment and eligibility for travel the day prior to pick up.
- →Enters data in computer databases to document travel costs for trips.
- →Researches bills received from contract and non-VA contract sources of payments and determines approval or denial of payment.
- →Gathers data, prepares reports used for statistical purposes and makes recommendations consistent with normal practice, using experience in solving problems and handling unusual occurrences.
- →Utilizes various computer software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Electronic Mail, etc.) and applying typing/office automation proficiency.
- →Makes transportation arrangements to meet urgent needs of various hospital departments.
- →Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
