About the Role

THIS IS AN AIR FORCE NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (MI CRTC), Position Description Number NGD1878000 and is part of the MI Alpena CRTC, Michigan Air National Guard. MICHIGAN AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. What You'll Do

  • This vacancy may qualify for a Recruitment Incentive up to 25% of the basic salary rate. ***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POISITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP*** This position is located at an Air National Guard (ANG) Aviation Wing, Air Traffic Control (ATC) Squadron, Airfield Systems Flight.
  • The purpose of the position is to provide technical expertise to maintain and certify Air traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATCALS).
  • This includes performing investigation, analysis, diagnosis, testing, tuning, correction, optimization, alignment, and verification/certification to ensure continuous and reliable operation of air traffic control and landing and communication systems. 1.
  • Certifies assigned systems and sub-systems to ensure compliance with USAF and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) established standards and safety requirements.
  • ATCALS cannot be used unless certified by the employee. 2.
  • Determines when equipment malfunctions warrant shutdown of various systems.
  • Acts as expert technical consultant to determine whether systems are operationally acceptable and safe within the prescribed standards and tolerances for air traffic control and air navigation. 3.
  • Provides technical guidance, training, and assistance to other technicians and conducts on-the-job (OJT) training to apprentices in all phases of work.
  • Conducts and documents OJT in all phases of equipment maintenance.
  • Certifies task qualifications and schedules task training. 4.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing.
