About the Role
The Kansas City VA Medical Center is recruiting for Time and Leave Clerk assigned to Nursing Acute care. The Time and Leave Clerk performs all timekeeping duties via appropriate computer system for employees, including different shift schedules, on-call pay input, holiday worked, union time, overtime, comp time, etc. Inputs time and attendance from supervisor's 1098 certified timesheet.
What You'll Do
- →The Time and Leave Clerk answers phones and assists with leave coverage.
- →Maintains service records in accordance with Records Control Schedule guidelines and policies.
- →Maintains certified timekeeping books for each supervisor.
- →Maintains time and attendance manuals to refer to for guidance.
- →Runs Overtime and Comp Time reports for Supervisors.
- →Provides Medical Subspecialty Care overtime and comp time usage reports for cost management/monitoring.
- →Tracks and monitors all Timecard exceptions by running reports and advising supervisors.
- →Prepares ad hoc reports on leave costs and overtime expenditures.
- →The major duties and responsibilities of a Time and Leave Clerk include but are not limited to: Communicates with nurse managers and supervisors regarding problems related to leave usage and monitors for overages.
- →Provides training to nurse managers and supervisors interpreting timecard entries.
- →Explains entitlements to premium pay and differential.
- →Ensures timecards have proper signatures upon submission.
- →Processes transactions which involve verifying codes and other information; reconciling leave balances and entering data into automated file systems.
- →Instructs new employees in reading, interpretating and understanding the Earnings and Leave Statements.
