The Therapeutic Radiologic Technologist at the is Level works independently carrying out procedures which have varying assignments. This includes basic and advanced treatment modalities and procedures.
What You'll Do
- →Major Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Independently conduct daily quality assurance measures, machine warm up procedures, interpretation of output levels compared with established thresholds Ensures all equipment is in safe working order, reporting all equipment problems as appropriate.
- →Provide guidance and direction to lower grade TRTs involving complex treatment and unfamiliar or unusual situations involving complex patient clinical issues.
- →Set-up the treatment room and deliver basic and more advanced radiation treatments on a linear accelerator, as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
- →Maintains supplies for the work areas.
- →Schedule treatments in a manner as to optimize accelerator times while maintaining flexibility for emergency cases.
- →This requires the ability to prioritize scheduled patients as well as the ability to accommodate the emergency patient who may need immediate simulation and treatment.
- →Identifies individual patients (time-out) by the required identification methods set forth by hospital policy and departmental procedures before simulation and each daily radiation treatment is delivered.
- →Educate patient, family, and staff on the administration of ionizing radiation.
- →Has the knowledge of consultations, simulation, and treatment planning and treatment procedures.
- →Imaging: Acquiring and Interpreting the images isocenter port/verification films, KV, MV and Cone Beam, as needed by utilizing the on-board imaging system.
- →Perform imaging as per the Service's Imaging Policy, all imaging requests will be in the Patient's Radiation Prescription.
- →Other duties as assigned.
