What You'll Do
- →As a Telecommunications Specialist (Wildland Fire) your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Performs technical and analytical work supporting the planning, procurement, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of radio and digital telecommunications systems supporting wildland fire preparedness, incident response, and all-hazards operations.
- →Responsible for implementing approved configurations and procedures within established standards and guidance.
- →Performs installation, configuration, and corrective/preventive maintenance of land mobile radio (LMR) and associated interface equipment (e.g., VHF/UHF portable and mobile radios, antenna systems, base stations, repeaters, dispatch consoles/workstations, remote control terminals, and related interfaces) using established procedures, checklists, templates, and approved configuration baselines.
- →Programs authorized radio frequencies and standardized configurations into radios in accordance with approved channel plans, templates, and configuration baselines; updates local channel plan documentation and related records for review/approval; and assists in preparing draft requests for new or modified frequency authorizations.
- →Performs administrative and data collection analysis such as: conducting routine usage reviews and trend summaries; preparing routine telecommunications reports; providing technical input for routine acquisition actions; and preparing and updating simple operating procedures, job aids and user instructions.
Requirements

- ✓Citizen or National.
- ✓Suitability for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation.

- ✓In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
- ✓Incumbent must be able to obtain certification to climb towers.
- ✓This position requires the incumbent to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of their official duties.
- ✓Selectee must hold and maintain a valid state driver's license throughout their employment in this position.
- ✓A condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.
- ✓Individuals assigned male at birth after 12-31-59 must be registered for the Selective Service.

- ✓You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- ✓You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 75% of the time.
