THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR-TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD1286000 and is part of the KY MATES, National Guard.
What You'll Do
- →As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR-TITLE 32, WG-5801-12, you will inspect a large variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment and automotive vehicles.
- →Inspect heavy artillery, small arms, powered support and other equipment or components of equal or lesser complexity.
- →Inspect complex, interrelated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical systems, equipment and their components while in operation or in a standby condition.
- →Inspect and perform tests to braking, steering, large engines, intricate fuel injection systems, turret stabilization systems, and other systems combined in a single, complex mechanical assembly.
- →Use specially designed testing methods and test equipment to assure that tolerance and safety factors have been met.
- →Inspect equipment to determine repairs needed.
- →Utilize established Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s).
- →Consider a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours, and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether repair is economical.
- →Recommend to a higher echelon to condemn equipment when the repair costs exceed the established MEL.
- →Prepare lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized.
- →Perform in-process inspections to assure that equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements.
- →Perform final inspection, certifying that equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, or reject the work and return the equipment to the repair shop with specific reports prescribing additional repairs.
- →Serve as inspector on Command Maintenance Evaluation Teams (COMET) and/or as a member of Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAIT).
- →Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- ✓Military Grades: SPC(E4)-CW2(W2) CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
- ✓You must be assigned to a compatible military position.
- ✓Wear of the military uniform.
- ✓Position may require a pre-employment physical.
- ✓May be subject to furlough actions.
- ✓May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
- ✓Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- ✓Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.
- ✓Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.
- ✓Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.
- ✓This position is located on a tobacco free facility.
- ✓This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
- ✓An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
