What You'll Do
- →INTRODUCTION: This position serves as a supervisor with responsibility for ensuring the staff provides appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth ranging in age from six weeks to 18 years in Child and Youth Programs (CYP).
- →The incumbent serves as a first level supervisor for assigned staff.
- →The incumbent provides routine supervisory oversight, instruction, mentoring, and coaching for CYP direct care professionals who work in Department of Defense (DoD) operated military CYPs.
- →The incumbent supervises, coaches, and manages their work to ensure the ongoing staff development, execution of DoD standards of care and curriculum, and delivery of care are consistent with best practices of child/youth development programs.
- →The incumbent is responsible for providing guidance on scope of work and related duties, and assistance on the more complex, non-routine problems encountered by CYP direct care professionals.
- →The incumbent works under the written and verbal direction of the program Director.
- →Day-to- day assignments are normally performed independently with assistance available from the supervisor when required.
- →Incumbent may serve as the Manager on Duty, assuming the responsibilities and duties of the program Director or Assistant Director, in their absence when assigned.
- →The incumbent is the primary liaison between the CYP management team and the CYP direct care professionals.
- →The incumbent is expected to apply subject knowledge, ensure policy compliance, and use initiative and creativity in accomplishing plans, outcomes, goals, and objectives.
- →The success of the CYP requires ongoing interpretation of program policies, professional development of CYP employees, and needs of children, youth, and parents.
- →The work includes numerous and unrelated processes and procedures concerning the wide variety of activities in a CYP.
- →The incumbent serves as a mandated reporter as prescribed by local and Unites States Marine Corps (USMC) policy in the case of suspected incidences of child abuse and neglect.
- →The incumbent has knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws governing the detection, prevention, and reporting of child abuse and/or neglect.
