About the Role
This position is located at a USDA Forest Service Unit, within the Pacific Northwest Region, Region 6. This position is located within the USDA on a Forest Service Unit.This position serves as a Crew Supervisor and Smokejumper Operations Manager for a national shared resource smokejumper program. What You'll Do
- →Duties listed are at full performance grade GW-11 level.
- →Plans, schedules and coordinates all aspects of smokejumper operations.
- →Analyzes and predicts budget needs for all fire and prescribed fire operations and submits budget proposal for inclusion in the group annual work plan.
- →The position also directly supervises an Assistant Manager position, designed to assist the Smokejumper Program Manager in the overall supervision of the section, and may also supervise a Spotter position.
- →Provides administrative and technical supervision.
- →Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised.
- →Develops and maintains roles and responsibilities for smokejumpers and fire specialists.
- →Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters.
- →Establishes group smokejumper operations guidelines.
- →Writes, edits, updates, and approves relevant guidelines and reports for internal use.
