About the Role

The Supervisory Social Worker functions independently as the supervisor for the Homeless Program for Southern Colorado. The incumbent is responsible for oversight and coordination of the Homeless program in Southern Colorado under the direction of the Section Chief of Homeless Programs. Duties include oversight and leadership of the HUD-VASH program, the Coordinated Employment Specialist and program outreach.

  • The incumbent tracks and adhere to all current directives of VHA, and meets current Joint Commission, state licensure standards, and VA-OIG expectations.
  • The incumbent will assist with ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies.
  • The Supervisor helps in the development of individual, group and program goals and objectives.
  • The incumbent is responsible for various fund control points assigned to the program.
  • The incumbent manages and controls the use of data related to the program regarding day to day functioning and program evaluations.
  • The incumbent plans, organizes and directs administrative operations and patient and personnel activities for the program.
  • Assists in the identification of qualified MSW candidates for vacant positions; rating of performance appraisals; and ongoing supervision of staff in the HCHV and HUD-VASH programs.
  • Exercises supervisor authorities and responsibilities involving work assignment and review, as well as the administrative and personnel management function relative to the staff supervised.
  • Hears and works to resolve employees' complaints.
  • The incumbent provides supervision and consultation to subordinates.
  • The incumbent monitors quality of care and productivity of supervisees and addresses ways to improve.
  • Review, approve or disapprove leave requests.
  • The incumbent represents the VA Homeless programs in the community and participates in community-wide homeless planning activities to best serve the needs of veterans.
