About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

  • VA Careers - Licensed Clinical Social Worker: https://youtube.com/embed/U_xC25QsN0w Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The incumbent functions as the Supervisor of the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP), and is assigned to the Behavioral Health (BH) Service within the Harry S.
  • Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital (Truman VA).
  • Truman VA is a level 1C Medical Center which provides inpatient, residential and outpatient mental health services at the main facility as well as both outpatient medical and mental health services at each of our eight area Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
  • Duties may include: Directly supervises 14 FTE, including GS-13 psychologists and GS-11-12 social workers assigned to BHIP at the CBOCs.
  • Supervisory authority includes the full range of personnel management functions.
  • Completes quarterly and end-of-year performance appraisals for all assigned staff.
  • Develops individualized performance plans and productivity targets in alignment with national and local program standards.
  • Monitors staff productivity and ensures compliance with all applicable performance measures, standards, and mandates.
  • Conducts regular documentation and coding reviews of staff to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with facility and national standards.
  • Independently approves and manages leave for all assigned staff to ensure continuity of care and uninterrupted service delivery across programs and locations.
  • Coordinates recruitment, selection, and onboarding of staff associated with programs under supervisory responsibility, exercising independent judgment in candidate evaluation and recommendation.
  • Provides clinical consultation to front-line staff on complex cases and clinical situations, both on-site and via telehealth technology, serving as the primary clinical resource for the supervised team.
  • Provides comprehensive psychosocial assessments and formulates diagnoses for Veterans presenting with a range of mental health conditions, with particular expertise in complex and high-acuity presentations referred for advanced clinical evaluation.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individualized, collaboratively determined plans of care for Veterans in the CBOC setting.

  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
