About the Role

The incumbent is a member of the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service within Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr VA Medical Center. The incumbent is a member of a team providing support and purchasing, services to an adult, Veteran population with specialized needs. The work has high visibility and a positive attitude and a motivation to expedite services and satisfaction are critical to accomplishing the VA mission.

What You'll Do

  • Major duties include, but not limited to: Serves as the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service Supervisory Purchasing Agent and is responsible for all procurement functions of the Service and for ensuring that all patient prosthetic orders are procured within the time frame established by National Program Office.
  • Responsible for decision making and purchasing authority on all areas involving purchasing prosthetic appliances, durable medical equipment and services for patients.
  • Distributing the balance of workload among employees in accordance with established workflow responsibilities, day-to-day modifying workload to staffing levels, to assure timely completion of workload, assure each employee has enough work to keep busy and balanced workload.
  • Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques.
  • Provides written and/or oral instructions, on-line references and materials, and supplies.
  • Provide on the job training to new employees and orientation, training and competencies.
  • Maintains a thorough and current knowledge of all prosthetic applications, VHA directives, Prosthetic Sensory Aid Service policies and procedures.
  • Checks prosthetic staffs' work in progress and reviews completed work to see if work is compliant with service line expectations.
  • Evaluate the work performance of subordinates to ensure they are completing their work according to the current established policies, directives, regulations, and performance measures.
  • Examining incoming prescriptions and prepare purchase orders for purchase, rent or lease of prosthetics and orthotic supplies, services and equipment.
