About the Role
This position is with the Under Secretary of War for Acquisition & Sustainment in the Office of the Direct Reporting Portfolio Management for Submarines (DRPM SUBS). The purpose of this position is to serve as the head of strategic communications (STRATCOM). This position provides expert leadership and executive-level counsel on all public affairs matters, directing internal and external communication, media relations, congressional affairs, and crisis management.

- →Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Develop and execute integrated communication strategies supporting submarine acquisition, lifecycle sustainment, and international partnership programs, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and national defense objectives.
- →Direct public affairs activities including media relations, press releases, messaging, and crisis communications to effectively communicate program milestones, capabilities, and impacts to external audiences.
- →Coordinate communications supporting congressional affairs, preparing leadership for hearings, briefings, and stakeholder engagements while ensuring clear, accurate messaging on submarine program funding, progress, and policy priorities.
- →Lead a multidisciplinary communications team and coordinate with program offices, international partners, and senior leadership to ensure consistent, strategic messaging across all communication channels.
