About the Role

The Office of Community Care is seeking a qualified candidate for the Supervisory Program Specialist position. The Supervisory Program Specialist provides strategic programmatic data gathering, detailed analysis, guidance, and high-level support for healthcare management to the department, facility, network and Integrated Veteran Care.

What You'll Do

  • Dole VA Medical Center in the Community Care Department (CCD).
  • The Robert J.
  • Dole VA Medical Center includes the main medical center in Wichita, Kansas, and various Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) that serve Veterans throughout the region.
  • The CCD's core mission is to ensure timely referrals and authorizations for Community Care (CC) to eligible Veterans in accordance with federal laws and Department of Veterans Affairs' policies and procedures.The department is responsible for coordinating a substantial number of CC referrals each year.
  • CCD also provides guidance and support related to CC to VA staff, non-VA care providers, Veterans, and other stakeholders.
  • Special programs overseen by the CC Department include Inter-facility Consults (IFC), Traveling Veteran Coordination, Geriatric and Extended Care, and Noninstitutional Care.
  • The position provides strategic programmatic data gathering, detailed analysis, guidance, and high-level support for healthcare management to the department, facility, network and Integrated Veteran Care.
  • Makes operational decisions independently for the department based on best practices.
  • Works collaboratively with both clinical and administrative staff, covering all specialties of care in managing the CC Program and related projects/applications.
  • The incumbent reports to the Chief, CC.
  • Duties include but are not limited to the following; Provides comprehensive leadership and management for CC programs, overseeing the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all related projects and initiatives.
  • Directs the effective use of CCD resources, lead process improvements, and ensure alignment with VHA directives, the VA MISSION Act, PACT Act, COMPACT Act, and other regulations.
  • Acting as a senior advisor and subject matter expert, they develop and revise policies, guide and implement operational strategies, and coordinate community-based healthcare delivery.
