About the Role

The C&P Manager serves as the VAMC's Senior Technical Advisor and as the primary consultant and liaison to the VISN C&P Officer. The incumbent outlines VAMC C&P program goals and objectives, identifies risks, supervises all VAMC C&P employees, ensures training and education, and completes second level reviews as appropriate

What You'll Do

  • As the VAMC's C&P Program subject matter expert (SME), the incumbent provides direct technical and administrative supervision to employees in the VAMC's C&P Office.
  • The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that employees are efficiently and effectively accomplishing quality work that is compliant with regulatory requirements and procedures, TJC standards, laws, and VHA C&P policies and requirements, as well as assuring implementation and accomplishment of the goals and objectives of the C&P Program.
  • Provides advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
  • Identifies developmental and training needs of employees; provides or arranges for needed development and training; advocates to leadership and/or program officials for training resources.
  • Interviews and selects candidates for vacancies, promotions, details and reassignments.
  • Provides consulting and guidance to local leadership and C&P employees on all matters pertaining to the facility's C&P program including Healthcare Professionals' C&P; facility Scope of Practices.
  • Serves as the primary consultant for the facility's C&P program.
  • Coordinates with Service Chiefs and service level administrative teams for annual Committee(s) review of clinical privileges and scope of practice forms.
  • Performs as the VAMC SME on the following topics, including, but not limited to credentialing of licensed independent practitioners (LIP) and Non-LIPs; privileging and privileging related matters including focused and ongoing professional practice; adverse privileging actions;Reporting to the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB); and reporting to State Licensing Boards (SLB).
  • Monitors C&P program resources to ensure programs are appropriately staffed including succession planning, mentoring and training of new C&P specialists, and preparation and implementation of action plans when vulnerabilities are identified.
  • Participates in policy and decision-making initiatives at the VAMC, and continuously develops a greater understanding of regulatory andpolicy requirements, quality assurance methodologies as well as best practices.
  • Assists with developing, coordinating and recommending changes for the improvement of workflow in the program or section area.
  • Provides consultation and oversight in the following areas: FPPE and OPPE; actions indicated by the Credentials Committee.
  • Performs other C&P program related duties as assigned.
