As a Supervisory Program Specialist, you will supervise Program Specialists who adjudicate immigration status and employment eligibility determinations for USCIS customers participating in the SAVE and E-Verify Programs in accordance with immigration law, DHS policy and organizational guidelines.
What You'll Do
- →Provides technical and administrative supervision to Program Specialist who are responsible for immigration status verification, issue resolution, fraud detection, identity confirmation, decision analysis and evaluating systems.
- →Reviews the work of employees within assigned section for completeness and accuracy.
- →Provides both counseling to encourage employees to progress within their job classifications and to recommend paths for improvement where necessary.
- →Performs the most complex phases of the verification work process to include coordinating work efforts, expeditious handling of special cases and maintaining technical skills in database entries.
- →Prepares and issues written procedures on established USCIS and departmental policies and programs, and ensures their staff are in compliance.
- →Promotes a creative environment that inspires team members to develop ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
- →Adjusts work operations as needed to meet changing priorities within the organization.
- →Evaluates the training needs of their employees and provides them with the resources needed to improve their work performance.
- →Makes recommendations on job applications as part of the hiring process for their department.
Requirements
- ✓Conditions of Employment: You must be a U.S.
- ✓Citizen or U.S.
- ✓Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S.
- ✓Citizenship and Immigration Services.
- ✓This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S.
- ✓Federal or Military employee serving overseas.
- ✓Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position.
- ✓You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.
- ✓COMBINING QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: If you do not qualify based on experience or education alone, you may be able to qualify based on a combination of your experience and education.
