About the Role
You will serve as a Supervisory Park Ranger (Protection), this position is in the Division of Visitor and Resource Protection within San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.
What You'll Do
- →This position functions as a supervisory and administrative (executive manager) position in the Division of Visitor and Resource Protection within San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.
- →The incumbent is responsible for organizing, planning, coordinating, and directing a diverse law enforcement program including highly complex operations in an urban high crime area.
- →The primary purpose of this position is to perform and/or supervise employees in the investigation, apprehension, and transport of persons suspected and/or convicted of violation of the criminal Laws of the United States of America and the State of Texas.
- →Serve as the principal assistant and advisor to the Chief Ranger in the overall administration, planning, development, and operation of the Visitor and Resource Protection Division, in the area of law enforcement.
- →Develops standard operating procedures and provides technical/legal guidance; directly responsible for a broad range of law enforcement and emergency activities occurring in the park, including complex urban crime related issues.
- →Provide direct supervision to assigned staff and carries out all responsibilities associated with full supervisory authority.
- →Perform and/or supervise employees in the investigation, apprehension, and transport of persons suspected and/or convicted of violation of the criminal Laws of the United States of America.
- →Serves as Park Evidence Custodian responsible for managing evidence for all courts in accordance to law and policy.
- →Responsible for the evidence storage, evidence inventories, transfer of evidence to other agencies, and evidence destruction.
Requirements

- ★This is a secondary-administrative law enforcement position under the special retirement provisions of 5 U.S.
- ★C. 8336 (c) (CSRS) and 5 U.
- ★C. 8412 (d) (FERS).
- ★Applicants may meet qualification requirements, but may not be eligible for special retirement coverage.
- ★If such an applicant is selected, they will be placed in the regular retirement system.
- ★To be eligible for Secondary retirement coverage under CSRS, an employee must transfer directly (without a break in service exceeding 3 days) from a primary position to a secondary position.
