About the Role
You will serve as a Supervisory Park Ranger (Protection) - District Ranger, District Ranger for the Olympic National Park performing visitor and resource protection and public use management duties. Two positions are being advertised - one position in Port Angeles, WA and one position in Amanda Park, WA.
What You'll Do
- →Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Provides professional leadership and coordination for the development and implementation of the District Programs for visitor use management, law enforcement, and resources and visitor protection.
- →Serves as first line supervisor of subordinate law enforcement staff.
- →Responsible for detection, investigation, apprehension, and prosecution under applicable laws, rules, and regulations enacted to insure the protection and safe use of National Park resources.
- →Provides field training, emergency medical services, structural firefighting, special response, technical rescue, swift water rescue, and helicopter rescue.

- ★This is a secondary/administrative law enforcement position under the special retirement provisions of 5 U.S.C. 8412(d) (FERS).
- ★While secondary positions are not subject to the maximum entry age (MEA) policy, applicants must have prior service in a primary position and meet the transfer requirement for movement from a primary to a secondary position to be eligible for special retirement coverage.
- ★Applicants may meet qualification requirements but may not be eligible for special retirement coverage; if such an applicant is selected, they will be placed in the regular retirement system.
