About the Role

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Midwest Region, Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site in Affton, Missouri.

What You'll Do

  • This position serves as the Interpretation, Education, and Volunteer Program Manager (Chief of Interpretation) for Ulysses S.
  • Grant National Historic Site in Affton, Missouri.
  • Oversees division activities by guiding and directing the interpretation division and assisting with the coordination, execution, management, and planning of the park's visitor services and interpretive programming.
  • Major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1.
  • Manages a complex interpretive program, including a visitor center, museum, historic home and buildings, field programs, and special events. 2.
  • Plans and conducts a wide range of public interpretive programs throughout the year.
  • Programs consist of walks, talks, tours, field trips, performances, and special events related to Ulysses S.
  • Grant NHS, its resources, and issues. 3.
  • Provides leadership, supervision, management, and training for intern, volunteer, seasonal, and permanent interpretive staff who present a variety of interpretive programs and front-line visitor services. 4.
  • Creates, manages, and executes a budget for the Interpretation Program. 5.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with various stakeholders, partner groups, and other agencies to advance program goals and objectives. 6.
  • Serves on the park's leadership team and works closely with team members to plan, address, and manage issues, and provides key input from an interpretation, education, volunteer, and visitor service perspective.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S.
  • You will be subject to a background/suitability investigation/determination.
  • You will be required to have federal payments made by Direct Deposit.
  • You must submit ALL required documents and a completed questionnaire.

  • Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal civilian employees applying for reinstatement who have had a break in service of less than one year, as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointments.
  • Time-in-grade does not apply to new excepted service appointments and must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
  • A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
  • You may be required to travel overnight away from home occasionally.
