About the Role

This position is located in the Office of General Counsel, Litigation Services Section, in the Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Branch of the Division of Enforcement Litigation. The Branch represents the Board in all cases in the U.S. Court of Appeals involving enforcement or review of final Board decisions and orders, and works with the Office of the Solicitor General in handling the Board's cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.

What You'll Do

  • As a Supervisory Paralegal Specialist (Chief of Litigation Services), GS-0950-12, your typical work assignments may include: Providing technical review over all procedural steps and practices involving the enforcement or review of Board Orders in the Courts of Appeals and issuing informational memoranda immediately upon issuance of court decisions in Board cases to personnel of the Agency.
  • Providing advice to staff attorneys, supervisors, and managers as to the procedural steps to be taken in the litigated cases being handled by the Branch, and preparing various motions and other legal documents to assist attorneys in conducting enforcement litigation in the U.S.

  • Overseeing and performing paralegal work that includes analytical and investigative duties, including performing legal research, providing legal opinions, conducting corporate asset investigations, and preparing various motions and other legal documents to assist attorneys in conducting enforcement litigation in the U.S.

  • Providing administrative oversight and final technical authority over paralegals and legal assistants in the Section, which includes orientation of legal assistants in the preparation of records, applications for enforcement, and other pleadings, answering technical procedural questions, and providing necessary guidance for task completion, especially in unusually complex or difficult cases.
  • Preparing correspondence and initiating such contacts with the court clerks, other agency offices, and opposing counsel as may be required in connection with specific cases in litigation or general practice matters.
