About the Role
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the NUCLEAR ENGINEERING and PLANNING DEPARTMENT (Code 2300), NUCLEAR TEST ENGINEERING DIVISION (Code 2340), NUCLEAR REGIONAL MAINTENANANCE DEPARTMENT (NRMD) SUPPORT BRANCH (Code 2340.11) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
What You'll Do
- →You will plan and execute the reactor plant test program for specific nuclear submarines and ships.
- →You will plan, engineer and coordinate production of fluid and mechanical systems required to support the reactor plant maintenance and test program.
- →You will be responsible for reviewing analyzing work assignments and projects.
- →You will plan work, set priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work.
- →You will schedule reactor plant overhaul, refueling and test programs to ensure that proper protective devices and systems are available to protect the reactor plant.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
