About the Role

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of PSNS and IMF.

What You'll Do

  • You will provide first line supervision for nuclear engineers and technicians assigned to the branch.
  • You will maintain technical authority and responsibility for the engineering work of the branch.
  • You will review and approve detailed written technical direction to accomplish nuclear work from cradle to grave.
  • You will evaluate the qualification, knowledge, skills and abilities of branch employees to ensure continuous learning and development.
  • You will perform and assure branch self-assessments to track branch metrics relating to quality, timeliness, areas of continuous improvement needed.
  • You will ensure safety and security processes for the branch and demonstrate high standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
  • You will engage with other areas in the Command to coordinate and support critical nuclear operation trainings and provide supervisory functions for these trainings.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
  • OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

  • OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
  • The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above).
  • Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
