About the Role
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the NUCLEAR TEST ENGINEERING DIVISION of PSNS and IMF.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a Shift Test Supervisor and work assignments associated with nuclear reactor plant testing operations.
- →You will act as an authority in resolving problems of a critical and technically complex nature, and as such must have proven performance and experience as a qualified Shift Test Engineer.
- →You will be in charge of all testing and Shift Test Engineers for the assigned shift and ship when assigned as Shift Test Supervisor.
- →You will be responsible for negotiating agreements where there are conflicting interests and opinions among organizations having valid concerns and among individuals who are experts in the area of nuclear reactor plant testing and evaluation.
- →You may act as the off-yard Test Engineering Division representative for shipyard work accomplished on nuclear vessels outside the shipyard when assigned.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
