SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER

About the Role
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the Assistant Nuclear Engineering & Planning Manager Division of PSNS and IMF. ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below.
What You'll Do
- →You will develop and coordinate development of nuclear ship specific work packages and project engineering processes.
- →You will act as primary contact between the shipyard and outside activities on technical matters.
- →You will review key documents, initiate or chair meetings that determine technical direction for work performance.
- →You will be responsible for project work in connection with overhaul, refueling, alternation, repair, maintenance, and testing of nuclear reactor plants for assigned availabilities of submarines and surface ships.
- →You will provide management guidance and coordinate work projects between the individual division of the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department.
- →You will monitor performance of reactor plant work, identify problems, evaluate alternate approaches to work performance and provide direction to appropriate Shipyard managers responsible for this work.
- →You will prepare management plans for assigned projects and obtain approval.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Successfully completed a bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
- ✓The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: (I) Professional registration or licensure: Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
- ✓Additional Information Continued: ICTAP Applicants: To be considered well-qualified and exercise selection priority as an ICTAP candidate, displaced Federal employees must satisfy all qualification requirements for the position and receive a rating in the highly qualified category (score 85) or higher.
- ✓ICTAP candidates must provide copies of all of the following documentation at the time of application:?1) agency notice; 2) most recent performance appraisal; and 3) most recent SF-50 or notification of personnel action that includes position, grade level, and duty location.
