About the Position: Under supervision of the Chief, Operations Division, serves as Operations Project Manager for the Upper Wabash Project Office and Business Line Manager for the District's Flood Risk Management, Recreation, and Environmental Stewardship Programs at District operating projects, and planning/execution of District's Natural Resources Management Programs. Determines requirements for the Operations and Maintenance functions at 3 dam and reservoir operating projects.
What You'll Do
- →Develop policies, procedures, goals, objectives, and metrics necessary to successfully achieve the Project Office and District mission.
- →Administer Natural Resources Management program including conservation programs, visitor assistance, water quality control, resource management, lakeshore management, environmental compliance, and recreation.
- →Prepare, submit, and defend annual budget requests in advance of applicable fiscal year in compliance with agency guidance.
- →Employ agency financial mechanisms to efficiently execute project funding in a timely manner and meet agency obligation and expenditure goals.
- →Direct gate changes to maintain or control water levels in reservoirs and coordinates synchronization of releases from multiple reservoirs.
- →Direct, coordinate, and monitor the repairs, improvements, and inspections of facilities for dam safety, emergency response, and flood control.
- →Enforce safety rules and regulations, including issuing citations and fines, and encourages safe boating councils, first aid courses, and other safety programs.
- →Responsible for various coordination efforts with Federal, state, and local agencies for proper management of the project and associated resources.
- →Participate in public meetings and information exchanges with groups, local committees, concessionaires, courts, media, etc., on matters affecting the Corps of Engineers policies and activities.
- →Supervise staff of permanent and seasonal employees, with additional temporary employees during peak season.
