About the Role

This position is located in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM), Office of Museum Operations and Administration, Division of Visitor Services. In this position, you will provide a wide range of administrative skills in tracking attendance, planning, scheduling, logistics, inventory, and safety of the Museum building, its artifacts, and visitors.

What You'll Do

  • The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is a federally chartered, nonpartisan institution that was created by the US Congress to serve as America's national memorial to the victims of the Holocaust and an educational institution dedicated to the history and lessons of the Holocaust.
  • The Museum seeks to educate Americans from all 50 states and all walks of life as well as international audiences.
  • The Museum has three areas of expertise: Holocaust remembrance, Holocaust scholarship and education, and genocide prevention.

  • Duties include: Performs management, administrative, and program support such as planning logistics, record keeping, and correspondence to a variety of audiences.
  • Provides a wide range of administrative skills in tracking attendance, planning, scheduling, logistics, inventory, and safety of the Museum building, its artifacts, and visitors.
  • Serves as a Supervisory Museum Specialist with Visitor Services and is responsible for all training and policy implementation for the Visitor Services staff and volunteers.
  • Manages complex daily floor operations, covering over 75,000 square feet of gallery/exhibition space in the Museum, as well as other public areas of the Museum.
  • Utilizes analytical, leadership, and judgement skillsets to carry out all the work of a Museum Specialist.
  • Supervision and maintenance of ticketing and Group Reservation operations and interpretation and evaluation along with prioritizing and developing appropriate schedules for staff, volunteers and interns on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
