About the Role

The Southern Arizona VA Healthcare Systems (SAVACHS) is seeking a Supervisory Mobility Transportation Specialist. The incumbent will manage the Veteran Transportation Program, which includes Special Mode Transportation; Veterans Transportation Service and Highly Rural Transportation Grants.

What You'll Do

  • Duties include but not limited to: Participates with VISN and national work groups in the analysis and development of policy material.
  • Develops management plans, procedures, VA Medical Center (VAMC) policy memorandums, Standard Operating Procedures and methodology at the Medical Center.
  • Participates in complex and special studies for and/or recommends changes for improvements in work methods, policy and procedures at the VAMC.
  • Develops procedures and systems for establishing, operating, and assessing the effectiveness of Beneficiary Travel; Special Mode, VTS and Highly Rural Transportation Grant systems of operation.
  • Analyzes and evaluates transportation functions and activities being considered for conversion to contract operations.
  • Conducts special cost benefits analyses, studies, reports, surveys, inquiries, and evaluations of various modes of beneficiary transportation at the VAMC.
  • Provides consistent and effective outreach to community transit authorities.
  • Assures that all transportation staff obtains and maintains appropriate licenses, certifications and training appropriate for each position.
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm Telework: This position may be authorized for telework.
