About the Role
The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant plans and directs scheduling in Health Administrative Services throughout the Durham VA Health Care System and has full supervisory responsibility as the direct line supervisor for the Lead and/or Supervisory Medical Support Assistant(s) and all Medical Support Assistant (MSA) staff within the assigned unit.

- →The employee has full administrative and professional responsibility for planning and directing the MSA's activities.
- →Responsible for extracting and analyzing data in order to provide reports in support of performance measures to senior management.
- →The Supervisory MSA works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model and performs all related duties; customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients and assure appointment schedules are maintained by MSA staff for one or more outpatient clinics.
- →He/she must assist with clinic access contingency plans by adjusting appointment times, location, or dates as well as shift patients to other healthcare providers as conflict with staffing and/or coverage occurs.
- →A Supervisory MSA in the HAS Call Center is responsible for supervising every Advanced MSA assigned to call-center operations.
- →This includes: Monitoring performance and workflow Providing daily guidance, coaching, and problem resolution Ensuring coverage and balancing workload across the call center Track workload productivity Schedule appointments Work Schedule: 11am-7pm Telework: Ad-Hoc Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
