About the Role

The Supervisor for Medical Support Assistants is located in the Outpatient Care Clinics and in support of the VHA Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) initiative. Provides support to Primary Care, Specialty Care and Mental Health Outpatient Clinics. The position is located at multiple sites within Eastern Colorado Health Care System: Denver, Aurora, Golden, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Alamosa, Burlington, La Junta and Salida.

What You'll Do

  • The Supervisory MSA at this level coordinates MSA staffing coverage for the Outpatient Care Clinics PACT team lets, Mental Health Service, and Specialty Services.
  • Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to: Assigning and evaluating the work of subordinate staff.
  • Resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met.
  • Evaluate new products, equipment, and systems in order to make recommendations for improved operations.
  • Identifying educational or training needs.
  • Serves as a selecting official to fill FTE.
  • Evaluating performance, addresses performance & conduct issues, and takes disciplinary action when necessary.
  • The MSA Supervisor has full administrative and professional responsibility for planning and directing the MSA's activities.
  • Responsible for extracting and analyzing data to provide reports in support of performance measures to senior management.
  • Manage position responsibilities with little supervision as well as set priorities and deadlines adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet team and patient needs.
  • Work Schedule: Permanent 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
  • Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
  • Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
