The incumbent reports to the Patient Administration Service Section Chief. The PAS Assistant Outpatient Section Chief is responsible for coordinating administrative support activities related to the operation of the Outpatient Clinic Section at both the HCC and Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Manages a full range of nationally mandated programs and initiatives while also performing the full range of supervisory duties and responsibilities to effectively utilize the resources and manpower allocated.
- →Familiar with all mandatory requirements including any VHA Directives related to VHA Outpatient Scheduling processes and procedures.
- →Comprehensive knowledge of the range of administrative laws, policies, regulations, and precedents applicable to the administration of eligibility, enrollment, health benefits, etc.
- →Conversant with concepts and requirements of patient aligned care teams and assist subordinates not only understanding their role but also being full and effective members of the care team.
- →Plan, organize, and direct teamwork and negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations which may require extensive changes to establish procedures.
- →Knowledge of facility/agency goals and objectives and methods of evaluating program accomplishments and the structure of the healthcare system.
- →Knowledge of VA medical benefit entitlements, clinic structure and functions and available ancillary services.
- →Responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and management of the nationally mandated initiatives/programs across all affected services of the CBOC.
- →Effectively build rapport and relationships with services outside of PAS to ensure that compliance with and implementation of all required directives, initiative, mandates, and handbooks is accomplished.
- →Coordinates the leave of the Patient Administration Service supervisors, leads, and PAS staff approving time and leave as appropriate and arranging cross-coverage to provide adequate and appropriate staffing support across all administrative areas.
- →Provide information regarding daily operations, provide guidance regarding technical and administrative matters and provide recommendations or coordinate activities with other services.
