About the Role

The Business Operations Manager will serve as a key member of the Health Administration Service (HAS), reporting directly to the Assistant Chief. The incumbent is responsible for the comprehensive oversight, operational management, and streamlining of all scheduling operations within HAS, including Enrollment/Eligibility and Patient Care Support (spanning Primary Care, Specialty & Medicine, and Behavioral Health sections).

What You'll Do

  • The incumbent assists the Assistant Chief for business planning, external revenue generation, insurance functions, and overall scheduling management in the rapidly changing present and future health care marketplace in Fayetteville and throughout Southeast North Carolina.
  • Ensuring the Standard Benefit Package is available for enrollees and modifying processes to improve operations.
  • The incumbent must be well-versed in the latest trends in scheduling, managed care and reimbursement issues.
  • The mission essential incumbent works closely with the Chief of the service and may interact on occasion with the Medical Center Director, Associate Director, and Chief of Staff.
  • The incumbent is the business operational manager for the following service line sections within Scheduling Operation Management: Enrollment/Eligibility and Patient Care Support (Primary Care/Specialty & Medicine/Behavioral Health).
  • Incumbent serves as the technical advisor and subject matter expert to the Assistant Chief, Health Administration Services (HAS), with the authority to act independently to correct and/or make adjustments to administrative process, under critical conditions, any event that interferes or disrupts quality patient care and customer service.
  • The mission essential incumbent participates with other key facility staff when representing the Clinical Business Operations, Chief of Health Administration Service (HAS), as a member of multiple Committees.
  • Because of the Medical Administration Officer's direct involvement in areas affecting the organization's mission, the incumbent's judgment and point of view are solicited on a wide range of strategic HAS challenges, plans, and activities.
  • The incumbent, on behalf of the HAS Management Team, enters actively into the recommendation of major policy decisions of personnel, budget, position management, public and community relations, program and organizational changes, patient care implications, distribution of beds, and other hospital resources.
  • The incumbent also serves as an HAS representative to multiple committees and workgroups as well as various time-limited task forces; may serve on VISN committees, workgroups, and Task Forces, such as Enrollment, ICB, ICD-10, transcription, and Sharing Agreements.
  • The incumbent provides the necessary analysis with the goal of highlighting useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting strategic decision making directly relevant to improving access to care and positioning FNCVACHCS to effectively support new VA-wide initiatives.
  • The incumbent serves as the Business Operations Manager within HAS of the FNCVACHCS and oversees daily scheduling operations, coordination and administrative management of clinical services and activities.
  • The organization mandates the crossing of accepted organizational/supervisory lines of authority, requiring the use of tact, diplomacy, effective negotiating skills and the ability to make decisions.
  • The incumbent must possess a straightforward vision of institutional direction as well as individual program contributions and must be continuously aware of opportunities for increased efficiencies and promising changes.
