The Supervisory Medical Administration Specialist is a management position located in Health Administration Service (HAS) and aligned under the Patient Processing and Benefits section. The incumbent has the responsibility to represent both the Medical Center Director and Chief, HAS on administrative matters occurring when assigned to other than a normal tour of duty.
What You'll Do
- →This position is delegated full authority of the Chief, HAS for administrative activities that occur on tour.
- →Assists in planning and directing the administrative duties performed during nontraditional business hours at the Tampa VA Medical Center, Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), Inpatient Wards, Community Living Center, Emergency Department, Outpatient Clinics and Specialty Clinics.
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Provides administrative authority, guidance, and advice to Medical Office of the Day (MOD) and all other clinical staff Intervenes when problems regarding patient activity occurs, advising clinical staff of appropriate administrative action.
- →Observes, evaluates, and coordinates administrative activities with IRMS, Engineering, Laboratory, Radiology, Nursing and Environmental Management Personnel.
- →Coordinates non-routine contacts received at the Medical Center after regular operating hours.
- →Receives and responds to non-routine patient condition inquiries and other administrative inquiries from concerned veterans, families, and other stakeholders.
- →Determines extent of release of medical or social data from Patients' records.
- →Safeguards and ensures rights of patients.
- →Functions as Patient Representative during tour of duty.
- →Independently managing five employees which includes but is not limited to the coordination, technical accuracy, consistency, and equitable distribution of work.
