What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a Division Head in the Manufacturing Engineering Department at the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC).
- →You will serve as the Navy's subject matter expert, providing authoritative technical direction, programmatic oversight, and mentorship to a team of engineers and technicians responsible for the production of critical naval propulsor components.
- →You will hold technical authority over a specialized manufacturing area, including casting processes, high-precision machining and assembly, or laser inspection.
- →You will oversee all engineering designs and processes within the division.
- →You will direct the development of detailed, written procedures for the unique and specialized manufacture of propulsor components, including creating and approving designs for molds, tooling, and fixtures.
- →You will serve as a subject matter expert for propulsor manufacturing operations.
- →You will provide expert technical advice, troubleshoot complex production issues, and guide the implementation of new technologies.
- →You will review all program documentation and make decisions regarding long-range plans, policies, and schedules.
- →You will direct annual work planning, conduct evaluations of divisional goals, and ensure all work meets safety, quality, and budget requirements.
- →You will lead a professional engineering staff, plan and assign work, set priorities, evaluate performance, make hiring decisions, and foster the technical and professional development of all employees in the division.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
