About the Role

This position is in Education Service (EDU). The Service has department wide responsibility for activities relating to administering VA educational assistance programs to Veterans, Servicemembers, National Guard and Reserve members, and eligible dependents for their military service to the Nation. This mission is accomplished by providing financial assistance, generally in the form of monthly benefit payments, as mandated in Title 38 and Title 10, United States Code.

What You'll Do

  • Specific duties include: Leads a unit or team of employees performing work at the GS-13 level.
  • Provides guidance and technical direction necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit or team.
  • Performs Analytical and evaluative work associated with line and/ or program activities.
  • Researches, learns, and applies a wide range of qualitative and/ or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency, and work products.
  • Develops, analyzes, evaluates, advises on, or improves the effectiveness of work methods and procedures, organizations, manpower utilization, distribution or work assignments, and similar functions of management.
  • Analyzes management techniques, processes, and styles for improving organizational effectiveness.
  • Analyzes agency-wide programs, functions, and organizations to determine whether the management systems in current use efficiently accomplish objectives south and whether they provide controls necessary for sound management.
  • Various analytic techniques are used, any of a complex nature.
  • Evaluates, processes, or makes recommendations for effective organizational changes.
  • Serves as team leader for region-wide studies or projects with significant organizational change.
  • Facilitates team or unit processes by working in collaboration with team members or employee to ensure that tasks are completed, that good working relationships among team members and within management are maintained, and that team priorities and goals, needs, and achievements are coordinated with management.
  • Plans, organizes and directs the utilization of financial and staff resources.
  • Monitors use business resources for a complex product or service line.
  • Performs program management activities and managers stakeholder projects that impact central office and field office operations.
