What You'll Do
- →The United States Attorney's Office, Northern District of Indiana is accepting applications for a Supervisory Legal Assistant located at any of our branch locations.
- →If selected for this position, you will supervise a team of legal support staff who are responsible for providing direct legal assistance to one or more Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) within the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney's Office of the Northern Indiana District.
- →Duties will include: Plans work to be accomplished, sets priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work as well as assigns work based on priorities and the difficulty and requirements of assignments.
- →Provide a variety of direct legal support assistance service to AUSA staff to include preparing and processing a variety of complex legal clerical work.
- →Provide a variety of direct clerical and administrative support to include assigning and monitoring the closing of case files, maintains calendar of assigned active cases.
- →Develop performance standards and evaluates work performance of subordinates.
- →Distributes and balances the workload due to absences and imbalances within the unit to achieve timely accomplishment.
- →Gives advice, counsel, or instructions to legal support employees on both technical and administrative matters.
- →Serves as technical advisor regarding all criminal matters.
- →Explains, applies, and /or interprets rules, regulations, procedures, directives, etc., obtaining needed information or decisions from supervisors on problems that arise.
- →Prepares and/or circulates memoranda and directives on changes in policy and procedures.
- →Holds staff meetings.
- →Identifies developmental and training needs of Legal Assistants, provides or arranges for needed development and training.
